• If you have a question that doesn't need to be private, such as "What is this ingredient?", or "Where do I get such-and-such?" etc., or you just want to say hi or give us some constructive criticism, please post it as a comment on this page instead of using the contact form. Requests for future articles or recipes should also go there.
• We do not participate in link exchange programs. All such requests will be ignored.
• We often get requests to "partner" with us. We don't know what that means to be honest. Please be specific in what way you want to "partner" - adverstisg on our site: Want a link back (see above)? Want a blurb? etc. Otherwise, your request will go unacknowledged.
• Members of the press, graduate students, and other researchers: While we would love to help you out, we simply do not have the time to provide you with long, detailed information about this or that subject. Therefore, queries along the lines of "give me a list of restaurants in Kyuushuu" or "explain how Japanese people stay thin" are most likely to go unacknowledged. There are hundreds of articles on this site and our sister site Just Bento which may help you along the way. The search function, which searches both sites at once, is your friend.
• And before you email me about that NY Times fortune cookie article, thanks but about a zillion people have emailed it to us already. (Maki's opinion in a nutshell: Interesting, not totally convinced.)
