Movie ads do it all the time with reviews. Now it seems restaurants are judiciously editing restaurant reviews, leaving only the good parts.
Before there was the definitely irreverent Frank Bruni there was Ruth Reichl. Interview from 1996 that shows how she changed the New York Times' restaurant reviews. But things have changed a lot in the restaurant scene since then too.
